With airlines still shaking us down for checked luggage money, JetSetter Fresh will teach you how to pack and sack it under the seat in front of you. There are few simple ways to make sure to pack everything you need in a bag that allows you to pick-up and go from the flight.

Rule 1. Use a soft and durable duffel bag.

There isn’t much space under seats. Matter of fact, most airlines state the space should not exceed 8″x17″x12″ in size. However, a duffel bag can squeeze and squash into the space. Look for a strong bag that doesn’t have many small pockets and decorative “athletic” enhancements. Small to Medium sized athletic duffel bags should do the trick.

Rule 2. Sweat the packing technique.

What you put inside of the bag makes the difference between under seat, overhead, or checked bag. Buy a few packing cubes to keep your travel goods looking good. Just tetris-ing your stuff into a bag will guarantee the ragamuffin look or hardcore pumping iron session. Packing cubes are an excellent way to create structure between garment utility and to ensure that the right things get packed in the right places. Instead of the heavy toiletry bag, get a nice water-resistant mesh bag or velvet bag. It is packing in stacks that maximizes the size of your bag. By the way, Louis Vuitton shoe bags work great!

Rule 3. Sweat the packing technique, even more!

Grab everything you will need in case of a FEMA emergency. Throw it all on your bed and stare at it. Stare harder, and get mad at yourself for throwing your entire closet and drawers on your bed. Think very hard of what you will need and choose a thematic base color. Black or brown are excellent starting points. Matter of fact, your shoes should be the starting point on deciding your wardrobe. No not the gym shoes, sneakers, tennis shoes, or slippers. Grown man and woman shoes that will highlight the fact you are an adult.

Next, consolidate what you are going to bring to the essentials and necessities. Pack your flyest gear. Never pack the flyer than what I wear to the supermarket gear. Pack light and sleek. Mr. and Mrs. Smith never took more than their duffel bags could hold. You should be able to get multiple uses out of all your clothing items. Unless, you are going into the outback or wilderness luxury trip, you will not need to bring a pair of pants for each day and a spare for an “accident.” Limit your over shirt packing by packing more undershirts. The over shirts should last as long as your undershirts.

The goal is to consolidate your items into multiple uses. For example, my tablet contains my boarding passes, itineraries, photos of all my documentation (which are uploaded in an email or cloud storage), video games, books, comics, music, and computer related documents. Another example, a crisp, fresh, and clean button-down without a tie is a daytime shirt, with a tie a formal dinner shirt, and untucked with rolled-up sleeves club shirt.

Here is your laundry list of items

• - Primary clothing- underwear, socks, pants, shirts, and clothing accessories (if necessary)
• - Secondary clothing- coats, swimsuits, boots, sneakers, gloves, etc.
• - Travel documents- ID, Passport, Visas, boarding passes, itineraries, currency and miscellaneous paperwork
• - Toiletries- toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, fragrances, cosmetics, and other necessary items
• - Communication items- smart phone with SIM Card or Unlocked International Phone
• - Technology goods- computer, tablet, camera, handheld video game device, or music player

Lastly, pack smarter not larger!

What do you do when your airline’s airplanes start to slack in the class department? You introduce a new plane that takes you from ashy to classy. American Airlines said don’t call it a comeback because they’ve been here for years. (We just didn’t care.) They introduced the new Boeing 777-300ER today with plans to let you enjoy the new flight soon.

American Airlines will be the first US carrier with new aircraft that make the old 777 look like a Winnebago. The new airliner has a significantly longer wingspan that delivers an “Extended Range,” almost 2,000 nautical miles more than the old model. This airliner 310 seats for seekers of new lands powered by twinjets with two engines that provide more power than the Kanye West song. American Airlines will own the skies with the largest airplane flown across the US. Hopefully, more airlines will bring out the Boeing 777-300ERs for those that love to travel in class and luxury.

As some of us bask in the self-congratulatory glow of Barack Obama’s historic re-election, naturally, we may be forgetting those of our fellow citizens who, fed up with the apparent “Socialist” leanings of the great country, are ready to pack their bags and go.

Spain: Residency for foreigners who buy houses

In an attempt to reduce the country’s bloated stock of unsold homes, the government is set to offer permanent residency to any foreigner provided they buy a house or apartment worth more than (EURO)160,000 ($200,000).

Sounds good to me? In California $200,000 would get you a shack in a non-english speaking neighborhood, but in this case you get a decent, barely used – shack, in a non-enlgish speaking neighborhood. Um, yeah, moving along.

The plan, unveiled by Trade Ministry secretary Jaime Garcia-Legaz Monday and expected to be approved in the coming weeks, would be aimed principally at Chinese and Russian buyers. Spain has more than 700,000 unsold houses following the collapse of its real estate market in 2008 and demand from the recession-hit domestic market is stagnant.

You can kill all kinds of birds with one fell swoop.  You get to leave America, and after paying your exit-tax you can get a house in Spain, and a share of citizenship on the side! You’ll be right down the street from rich Chinese and Russian ex-pats, who are the major targets of this offer, but hey, if America is falling into Socialism, you’ll be right at home next the Chinese and the Russians. There are all kinds of great views in Spain, I bet Sarah Palin can see you from her house.
